9th International Symposium on Composites Manufacturing for high performance applications

Welcome to the official website of ISCM 2021!

+++ UPDATE +++

The new date for ISCM 2020(21) is the 3rd and 4th of November 2021.

New abstract submission deadline: 15 July 2021

Dear friends and prospective participants of ISCM,

as you know, we initially planned to hold the ISCM conference in November 2020. Due to the Covid19-pandemic we then have been forced to shift the date to 21st and 22nd of April 2021, hoping, that circumstances would allow a safe conference with physical attendance. Due to the current development of the Covid19-pandemic worldwide we unfortunately cannot keep to that date anymore. Looking at the period of April 2021, the actual circumstances, which we have to base our planning on would allow only a small number of participants - if at all - who in addition would have to follow strict regulations to reduce the risk of getting infected with Covid19. These circumstances would lead to a conference format that no one would appreciate, neither would we as organizers. Of course we could run the conference as an online event. But the organizing parties (DLR and NLR) are feeling confident that this would degrade the character of ISCM, which makes this conference so valuable. From our perspective the high value of ISCM lays not only in the excellent presentations and interesting contents of the conference but maybe even more in the discussions after each presentation and during the breaks, in the face-to-face encounter of colleagues and specialists of the composite manufacturing community. In addition, offering you an insight view at the latest developments and the research platforms of Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology in Stade can’t be transferred in an online version, either.

Therefore we decided to postpone the conference, including the deadlines for call for abstracts and registration another (hopefully last) time.

The new date for ISCM 2020(21) is the 3rd and 4th of November 2021.

We are quite confident that the progress in vaccinating people worldwide will enable a safe execution of a valuable and enjoyable conference at that time. Please block this date in your calendar!

We are looking forward to welcome you at Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology in Stade in November 2021 and to celebrate an ISCM together with you like we are all expecting it!

Stay healthy and keep an eye on our website for further information!

Kind regards

Bert Thuis and Jan Stüve

The goal of ISCM is to promote discussion on recent developments in manufacturing of high performance composites and related areas.
Discussions at ISCM involve analysis of emerging issues, the state of the art in composites manufacturing and discussion on those developments that will shape the near future of composites applications.

ISCM has a tradition in aerospace composites manufacturing, but is open to all, who develop composite products for high performance
applications, to present their achievements. Non-aerospace related high performance composites applications are therefore very welcome
to be presented at ISCM. ISCM 2021 will be held on 3rd and 4th of November 2021 at the Centre for Lightweight-Production-Technology,
Stade of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Stade – Germany. ISCM is a biennial symposium organized by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR e.V.) and the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory NLR who act as alternate hosts.

ISCM 2021 will focus on the following topics in the context of composite manufacturing:
• Development of manufacturing techniques
• Automated manufacturing
• Material performance
• Cost reduction
• Joining technologies
• Industrialisation
• Novel design methods
• Innovative tooling concepts
• Process control
• Quality assurance
• Certification issues
• Sustainability aspects
• Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul
• Life Cycle Assessment

The scientific committee is looking forward to receive abstracts in the addressed fields.
Scientific committee:
• Prof. Dr. Martin Wiedemann
• Dr. Jan Stüve
• Ir. Henri de Vries
• Ir. H.G.S.J. (Bert) Thuis
